• The Brookdale site began as a lumber mill and redwood-logging operation in the late 1800s.

• By the 1920s–50s, Brookdale Lodge had become a glamorous retreat: famous Hollywood stars and celebrities visited, and it was known for its live music, big-band entertainment, and refined rustic hospitality.

• Over the decades the Lodge experienced decline, multiple fires, ownership changes, and periods of closure — but in recent years it has been undergoing renovation under new owners aiming to restore its historic character.
